“We should be shouting from the rooftops to gather new opportunities for our borough’s businesses.”
Andy Smith is owner of Keytracker Ltd (www.keytracker.com), suppliers of the UK’s largest range of commercial systems and software to keep track of keys, tools and equipment. Products include mechanical and electronic key systems, key control software and electronic locker systems. Customers include schools, universities, hospitals, prisons, government departments, police, hotels and estate/letting agents, as well as many other high-profile organisations including the Royal Mint, the Bank of England and Buckingham Palace.
“My job involves meeting interesting people and solving complicated situations. For example, one of our clients, a multi-site car supermarket selling well over 100 cars from one site on a busy day, wanted to save its customers from making wasted journeys to see cars that had already been sold. We integrated the client’s systems and website with electronic key cabinets, so cars with keys in a site cabinet now show as available on the website, and disappear from the website when the keys appear in the relevant valeting key cabinet. The system has also given our client extra insight into its processes (by reporting extended demonstrations, timelines and anomalies), vastly improving efficiency and boosting sales.
“I became a Sandwell Business Ambassador in order to use my skills and experience in promoting business-to-business trading, as well as supporting businesses to trade with government.
“I’m extremely proud of our talented ‘salt of the earth’ Keytracker team in Rowley Regis, with their forward-thinking and world-beating developments. I believe they are representative of the Sandwell workforce as a whole. We also have a geographical position in Sandwell that allows access to all corners of the UK within four hours. Put this ‘can do’ attitude together with our brilliant location, and we should be shouting from the rooftops to gather new opportunities for our borough’s businesses”.
