A&M EDM’s New Approach To Commuting
With the health benefits of exercising before work including a huge psychological boost and a more energised approach to the working day, it is not surprising more and more people are looking for ways to fit in that morning workout.
Cyclescheme is a government scheme to encourage employees to cycle to and from work. Being free to join and providing a tax saving of at least 25%, Cyclescheme enables employees to ‘hire’ the bike from their employers and feel energised by an active commute, productive for the day ahead.
A&M EDM are precision engineering specialists who employ 58 people and are based in Smethwick who had decided to join this scheme and support their employees. After implementing Cyclescheme less than 4 months ago, they’ve seen three times the anticipated take up – and expect this to increase over the coming months.
Melvin Wingfield, Director, A&M EDM commented:
‘After lots of research into various salary sacrifice schemes, we decided to progress with Grass Roots’ Cyclescheme as they had the biggest footprint of independent stores and nationals. With 10% of employees taking up the scheme within the first four months, morale has lied massively and every one of our participants has a positive story to tell about their experience. One of our employees was a keen footballer and was left unable to run after a knee operation – Cyclescheme provided him with a new, affordable exercise outlet he wouldn’t have had access to previously. I have only positive things to say about the experience!’
